Shobukan Martial Arts

My son has been attending Shobukan for 1 1/2 years now and loves it. The instructors are sensational and watching him improve with their help each week is truely impressive. He has become a better person since attending, his concentration and attitude have remarkably improved. My only regret is not having enrolled him years ago. Highly recommend Shobukan can’t fault them.

Instructors are skilled and focussed on developing students. A great mix of focus, care and fun.

My children have been attending Shobukan for almost a year. They absolutely love going. Each session the children get to work in small groups meaning all the children are engaged in the activities all the time. The values which are taught are great and promote links with home and school life. All the instructors seem genuinely pleased to see my children every time they attend. I highly recommend Shobukan.

My children have gained valuable life skills under the profession instruction at Shobukan . My youngest boy had issues with Focusing at school. After a few weeks of training his school teacher even made comment in the change in his behaviour in class. Now that he is focusing more his Confidence has grown as well . I love the personal attention that the kids get and that is not all about kicking and punching. Instructors always have chats to the children about values as well . A great family environment. Highly recommended.

I enrolled my son at Shobukan at the age 3 with the view of helping him with focus, a form of mediation in movement and discipline. What I received was so much more. He learnt not only movement, what his body and mind is capable of but how his emotions can effect his ability. When we first enrolled it was an emotional time for us and he loved having the mentoring values from the Sensei’s. They encouraged him to strive, to challenge himself, to congratulate and be proud of himself both within the Dojo and school. He’s now 15 and still has his Gi with all his badges & belts. Although he has decided to challenge himself in different sports now, I attribute his determination, pride and sportsmanship to the important foundations laid by the team of amazing leadership and friendship at Shobukan. I highly recommend Shobukan, not only for your child/ children but even for yourself. It’s a fantastic environment to be a part of.

I started my 3 and 5 yr old sons at Shobukan this year and we are all loving it! My 5 yr old had previously been going to another martial arts centre for a year previous to this and we are much happier with Shobukan. Shobukan has a very friendly and welcoming feeling and the kids are greeted by name each time. My son gets far more attention at Shobukan than he did with the other martial arts place which means his focus is better and he learns the moves far easier. Sensai Mike is just amazing with all the kids and you can see he enjoys helping the kids achieve. Great, great place!

My wife and I joined Shobukan Martial Arts last year and our lives have been better for it. The karate training has had both physical and mental benefits for us over this time. The instructors are all very helpful and willing to assist at all times and the classes are well catered for students of all ages and levels.

My nephew (3YO) attends Shobukan Whitfords and we can’t speak highly enough them. The instructors are incredibly patient and appropriately firm but fair, especially when he can be a bit energetic and challenging. During the classes, he learns so much more than just Karate and self-defence – He is developing focus, respect and so many other manners and life skills and I credit the instructors for instilling these values during each lesson. I think the team environment in which everyone is so understanding and encouraging helps the kids develop these skills and contributes to the successful outcomes we are having.

Since my son has joined, it has really transformed him. He is showing dedication to a sport. He has developed confidence and self worth. The instructors provide support and are good role models. They greet him by his name, praise him for his efforts. They provide correction and guidance, which he means doesn’t develop bad techniques. As parent watching him strive to do his best each lesson and practice at home, warms my heart. I couldn’t think of a better environment for child to develop self help/defence skills. Laura, who handles the bookings and schedules, always greets us and been so welcoming too. Give Shobukan a try, you won’t regret it.
